I am definitely reading Laura Miller in the new year. I have some reservations about The Magician’s Book, but she sounds like she has much the same relationship to CS Lewis as me, really.

Since you are an avid reader to your kids, I suggest Anita Silvey and Laura Miller. Check out Anita Silvey’s almanac, too. BTW, I have also fallen in love with the NYRB Children’s Collection. I swooned when I read your post about buying the whole lot in one fell swoop.
