One of the schools where I taught had a 20 minute reading time. Everyone, even the office staff had to stop what they were doing and read a book, every day. This was a while ago, but I still think it was a good idea. Probably best in the lower grades. At times it was surreal, to see everyone read and experience the quiet as well.
I LOVE that idea! The whole school! For a very short while, when my youngest was a baby, we had family reading time right after dinner. We’d all curl up with our books, and the baby would have his 30 mins of roll around on the blanket chewing a board book time. It was lovely, but lasted only until he was mobile. Now, we can often all be found with books, but it’s staggered as a rule.
